Chanted Meditations
Chanted meditations (pujas): The word puja is Sanskrit for offering. A Puja combines chanting and visualization with meditation.
Pujas are a special method for ensuring success in our meditation by purifying negativity, accumulating merit, and receiving blessings.
Everyone is welcome, and there is no charge.
There is a daily program of pujas at the Center at 1700 S. College, Fort Collins. Visit the online calendar for details.
Heart Jewel
Heart Jewel is the essential practice of Kadampa Buddhism, in which offerings and requests are made to the Wisdom Buddha, Je Tsongkhapa. In Heart Jewel we receive the blessings of all Buddhas' compassion, wisdom, and spiritual power (power to overcome our own delusions and obstacles). This puja is just about an hour, which includes 20 minutes of silent meditation.
Bodhisattva's Confession of Moral Downfalls
One of the most powerful methods for purifying our negative karma - by relying upon this practice, we can purify all of our misfortune before it ripens on us as experiences and situations we don't want. The prostrations we make can be done either sitting, standing, stationary, or vigorously - depending on what we are comfortable with.
Medicine Buddha Prayers
As the years go by, the practice of Medicine Buddha grows more and more important for the people of this world. Surpassing traditional medicine, relying upon Medicine Buddha helps heal our body, mind and world. Stop by and experience these beautiful prayers and leave feeling good inside and out.
Quick Path to Great Bliss
After receiving a Highest Yoga Tantra empowerment, practitioners rely upon this practice to fulfill their aims of helping others.
Powa Ceremony
Transference of consciousness for the deceased ~ we gather together and make special offerings, requests, and prayers for those who have died to attain rebirth in the pure land of a Buddha where they have the luxury of completing the spiritual path in comfort.
Mahayana Precepts Ceremony
In this practice, we promise to refrain from 8 particular actions in particular, while we abandon all non-virtuous actions of body, speech, and mind. Taking these precepts increases the power of all our virtuous actions, allowing us to accumulate good fortune much quicker than usual. Spanning a 24 hour period, the ceremony itself occupies just about half an hour at the start of the day - so other commitments can still be kept.
Wishfulfilling Jewel
Revealed by the Wisdom Buddha, Manjushri, these chanted prayers offer us a profound way to receive blessings, acumulate good fortune, and purify negative karma. Once a week, a Tsog offering is made in conjunction with the meditation session. Everyone is welcome to bring a vegetarian food offering and enjoy this inspiring practice. The calendar will indicate either 'with Tsog' or 'no Tsog' if a Tsog offering is to be made or not.
Melodious Drum
Also known as the long protector puja or "Kangso" ~ This is an extensive practice of making offerings and requests to the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugdan for spiritual protection. Dorje Shugdan always helps, guides, and protects pure and faithful practictioners by granting blessings, increasing their wisdom, fulfilling their wishes, and bestowing success on their virtuous activities. Approx 3.5 hours.
