In tropical countries, during the hot season, many people move to cooler areas to escape the heat. Similarly, when we exerience the mental and physical sufferings of samsara we should generate the wish to escape from samsara.
Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, Universal Compassion
With Buddhist Monk Kelsang Rinzin
Tuesdays, 6:00 - 7:30 pm, Cost $10
Our mind and states of mind affect all of our experiences. By understanding the nature and function of our mind, we shall gradually come to be able to direct our mind in the most positive and beneficial ways.
When things go wrong in our life and we encounter difficult situations, we tend to regard the situation itself as our problem, but in reality whatever problems we experience come from the side of the mind. If we responded to difficult situations with positive or peaceful mind they would not be problems for us. Eventually we might even regard them as challenges or opportunities for growth and development. Problems arise only if we respond to difficulties with a negative state of mind. Therefore, if we want to be free from problems, we must transform our mind.
