You are invited to join us: Help spread peace, compassion and wisdom in Northern Colorado by participating in our Compassion in Action Publicity Party!
Through learning to meditate and hearing Buddha's timeless advice, many people find peace and the solution to their everyday problems - of stress, fear, depression, anger, dissatisfaction, loneliness, misfortune and lack of meaning in their lives.
Heruka Center’s mission is to make meditation and modern Buddhism available to the people in Northern Colorado and Wyoming so that everyone can learn to use wisdom to solve their daily problems, grow spiritually, and transform their world.
Out of compassion we try to reach as many people as possible to let them know these solutions exist and are being offered locally at Heruka Center. In this way our community is actively working to help people solve their problems and find peace and happiness - this is compassion in action.
One of the ways we connect to the larger public is by placing flyers in local businesses who are happy to post community events. Many local businesses have a community bulletin board or shelf for local events, and many people have found Heruka Center through a posted flyer or postcard at one of these businesses.
People of all walks of life urgently need mental peace, and we as Mahayana Buddhist practitioners try to put our compassion into action by helping them find it. Through Buddha’s wisdom and compassionate blessings, and our compassionate activities to help everyone meet Dharma, may all suffering quickly cease and all happiness and joy be fulfilled!
Many local businesses have community bulletin boards, so they are happy to receive our flyers, especially as we are a non-profit organization serving the local community.
9:30am - Short Talk with Trina Gunther: The Compassion of Mahayana Buddhists
10:00am - Coffee, bagels, pastries & other refreshments in our community room
10:30am-12pm - We split up into small groups and go out on pre-designated publicity routes, popping flyers into the participating businesses
Everyone is welcome! No experience is needed, we have many practitioners with experience who you can be grouped with.
Trina Gunther is a long-time practitioner of Modern Kadampa Buddhism. She has studied and practiced in Dharma centers under Gen-la Dekyong and Gen Rigpa, and she has worked as Education Program Coordinator at centers in Los Angeles and the UK. She is an inspiring example of a lay practitioner of Kadampa Buddhism, and brings with her a wealth of practical experience of putting Buddha's teachings into practice amidst a busy daily life.
