“An empowerment bestows upon us special blessings that heal our mental continuum and awaken our Buddha nature.” — Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche
This empowerment is a sublime guided meditation through which we develop a relationship with Wisdom Buddha Manjushri and form an extraordinary vision of spiritual transformation for ourselves and our world. Through this guided meditation and blessings, we become empowered to nurture our own innate potential for wisdom, which dispels the darkness of our inner confusion and gives us the pure happiness of mental peace.
This event has three parts:
1. The blessing empowerment of Wisdom Buddha Manjushri
2. Instructions on how to receive wisdom blessings from Buddha Manjushri in daily life
3. A short group practice with guided meditation
The empowerment, teaching and guided meditation practice will be given by our Resident Teacher Trina Gunther. This event is suitable for anyone wanting to draw closer to Buddha and grow their spiritual potential.
Everyone is welcome!
Through receiving the special blessings of the Wisdom Buddha Manjushri in this empowerment we will develop and increase our wisdom. With wisdom we can fulfill every single wish. With wisdom we can solve all of our daily problems. Without wisdom there is no possibility of solving our daily problems because ignorance is the root of all our daily problems and suffering. In this way we can awaken ourselves from the sleep of ignorance and then we can see clearly the dream-like nature of our daily problems and suffering. In this way we will become an “awakened one” which means an Enlightened Being who is free from every kind of fault, impurity, problem and suffering.
In this empowerment and teaching we will learn about the seven types of wisdom and how we can develop them and use them to benefit ourselves and others. These wisdoms are great wisdom, clear wisdom, quick wisdom, profound wisdom, the wisdom of expounding Dharma, the wisdom of spiritual debate and the wisdom of composing Dharma books. With the attainment of these wisdoms we can fulfill our own wishes as well as others’ wishes. We can dispel our own inner darkness of ignorance as well as dispel and eliminate other’s ignorance.
Wisdom is deep knowledge that brings great meaning to our lives.
Wisdom dispels the darkness of confusion from our mind, and gives us the pure happiness of inner peace.
Draw closer to Buddha, learn his powerful mantra, and establish the seven types of wisdom in your heart.
“At present our mind is like a sky obscured by clouds. The only reason we do not realize all phenomena is that our mind is obscured by ignorance and other delusions.
Once these are eradicated our mind will naturally become the omniscient mind of a Buddha, realizing all phenomena directly and simultaneously.
The way to dispel the clouds of ignorance from the sky of our mind is to cultivate wisdom; therefore there is no more important task than to increase our wisdom.”Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, How to Understand the Mind
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the empowerment so that we can get everyone comfortably seated on time. Thank you!
Everyone attending has the opportunity to bring a small offering to place on the empowerment shrine, such as a fruit or chocolate. You can bring an offering or purchase one from our shop if you like.
Trina will explain how we can receive Buddha Manjushri’s wisdom blessings everyday and will give commentary to the practice of Treasury of Wisdom. She will explain the seven types of wisdom and share their deeper meaning from Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s 2002 teachings in Los Angeles.
We will engage in Buddha Manjushri’s chanted prayer and meditation practice with the meditations guided by Trina.
