A torma is a traditional Buddhist offering that is made to increase our spiritual growth. These offerings are shaped into meaningful forms from almond paste or other sculptable foods, and are offered to the Buddhas in various spiritual practices such as empowerments, retreats and chanted prayers. In this hands-on workshop, Kadam Trina will explain the beautiful meaning and benefits of offering tormas. We will then roll up our sleeves and each make a special torma to be offered on June 4, Turning the Wheel of Dharma Day, which is also Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche’s birthday. This will be a relaxed, fun and blessed workshop. Please pre-register to help us plan materials. There is a material fee of $10.

Every day we remember the extraordinary kindness of Venerable Geshe-la, our Root Guru and Founder of the New Kadampa Tradition, but on this auspicious day, with minds of rejoicing and gratitude, we will offer him our faith through using the special prayer Request to the Holy Spiritual Guide Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso from his Faithful Disciples and collecting our Guru’s name mantra in a one-day retreat.

Kadam Trina will give a brief explanation of this practice as part of the retreat. There will be two sessions of retreat using the sadhana The Hundreds of Deities of the Joyful Land According to Highest Yoga Tantra and the special request prayer, Request to the Holy Spiritual Guide Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso from his Faithful Disciples.
