Our Sunday morning classes will offer you the full sequence of Lamrim meditations over the course of 2021. Each month a different part of the Lamrim sequence is explored. Taught by Resident Teacher Trina Gunther, each class includes: a preliminary meditation to reduce distractions and quiet the mind followed by a short chanted prayer, the presentation of a Lamrim meditation including guided meditation, and an opportunity for questions.

In the Foundation Program, we engage in the systematic study of key Buddhist texts in order to gain a deep and lasting understanding and experience of the spiritual path, as well as an authentic confidence as a meditator and practitioner. These study classes also help us to become part of a community of practitioners who are sincerely putting the teachings into practice.

With weekly reading assignments from the text, as well as commentary, discussions and meditations on the week’s readings, these study classes create the conditions for us to develop deep inner experience of the teachings.

Wishfulfilling Jewel is a special practice for developing compassion, wisdom, and spiritual strength by relying on the Wisdom Buddha Je Tsongkhapa, and for overcoming obstacles and difficulties in our meditation (Dharma) practice by relying on the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden.

These classes are suitable for beginners, as well as those with an established meditation practice. Each class includes meditation, a teaching, discussion and opportunity to ask questions.

In this transference of consciousness, through concentration, compassion, faith, prayers, and mantras the participants assist in directing the consciousness of the recently deceased directly to the Pure Land, where they will be free from suffering and experience true happiness forevermore.

Extensive Prayers to Dorje Shugden

A Dharma Protector is an emanation of a Buddha or Bodhisattva whose main functions are to avert the inner and outer obstacles that prevent practitioners from attaining spiritual realizations, and to arrange all the necessary conditions for their practice.

Dorje Shugden is a Dharma Protector, which means he specializes in helping us keep our minds off delusions and on Dharma. One way he does this is by helping us transform all appearances into the spiritual path, opening our wisdom eyes so that we know what to do with each situation as it arises, generating Dharma minds such as renunciation, compassion, or wisdom.

Our 2021 U.S. Festival will take place online June 18-23.

Everyone in the U.S. is welcome to participate.

General Spiritual Director Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong will grant the blessing empowerment of Buddha Prajnaparamita and give teachings.

Every Fourth of July we celebrate our freedom, but Buddha invites us to ask ourselves: how free are we in our hearts? Are there ways of thinking that keep us trapped and bound to an unsatisfying, burdened life?

In this talk we will explore how identify the mental chains that keep us imprisoned in our hearts, and how to break free. Exercising our freedom in our heart leads us to enjoying more and more of it, making this truly a Happy Independence Day!

Heart Jewel Prayers to Je Tsongkhapa and Dorje Shugden are the heart essence of Kadampa Buddhism and many Kadampas do these prayers as part of their daily practice.

Buddhas, or enlightened beings, can appear or emanate as anything, and especially as teachers and as protectors; and in this practice we rely upon the Wisdom Buddha Manjushri in both these ways. In the first part we view our Spiritual Guide as Wisdom Buddha Je Tsongkhapa and make prayers and requests to purify our negativity and obstructions, accumulate a lot of good karma, and receive powerful blessings and inspiration. This prepares our mind for meditation. During this silence you can do any Lamrim meditation, such as love or compassion, such as found in The New Meditation Handbook. There is also a second shorter silence for Mahamudra meditation.

In the second part we make prayers to our Dharma Protector, Wisdom Buddha Dorje Shugden. Through this we can overcome obstacles in our practice and our daily lives, and create favorable conditions for increasing our experience of Dharma.
