"What is the relationship between the practice of Mahamudra and its four great preliminary guides? The practice of Mahamudra is like a car with four wheels. By depending on it we can swiftly travel to the ground of the Union of Buddhahood. The four preliminaries are like the wheels. If any of the wheels is missing the car will not be able to function. In the same way, if any of the four preliminaries is missing we will not be able to travel to the Buddha ground through the practice of Mahamudra."
Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, The Oral Instructions of Mahamudra
Highest Yoga Tantra is a deeply transformative practice that takes us completely out of our ordinary way of seeing things.
This type of profound change in our minds cannot happen without special supporting conditions. These are known as the four great preliminary guides. If we practice these preliminary guides, our HYT practice will become powerful and we will make swift progress. In 2015, in writing The Oral Instructions of Mahamudra, Venerable Geshe-la introduced special blessed and succinct practices of the preliminary guides as revealed in the Ganden Emanation Scripture. In these classes, we will explore and practice these four great guides.
Each HYT practice class will be accompanied by the prayers The Hundreds of Deities of the Joyful Land According to Highest Yoga Tantra.
In conjunction with these classes, we are offering a monthly emptiness workshop to deepen our imprints, understanding and experience of this profound wisdom. This beneficial regular study of emptiness will breathe life into our HYT practice, making our correct imagination effective!
These coordinated classes are designed to support the development of our HYT practice. Through these we will be guided step-by-step, gradually building up a qualified understanding of HYT practice and emptiness. Please see the general schedule of HYT classes below.
