Read on below to learn about what the center has been up to the past year.

The beginning of 2025 brought some big changes for us.

Change of Resident Teachers:

Kadam Trina, our Resident Teacher, was asked to move to Kadampa Meditation Center Washington located in Seattle to become Resident Teacher there.

Heruka KMC was blessed with a new Resident Teacher, Kerrin Perniciaro, who arrived in April 2025. Kerrin had previously served as Second Teacher and Education Program Coordinator at International Kadampa Retreat Center Grand Canyon (2023-25).

In 2023, she completed the Intensive Teacher Training Program (ITTP) at Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Center in Ulverston, UK. Prior to that, she did a brief stint as Assistant Admin Director at KMC Los Angeles and served six years as Education Program Coordinator at KMC Long Island, NY where she first met Dharma.

New Branches, Center Classes, and Continuation of Existing Classes:

We have started a weekly Wednesday afternoon (12-1pm) branch class in Loveland, which is taught by Kelsang Evam, a member of our center’s Teacher Training Program. Kelsang Evam is assisted by Foundation Program student Susan Prentice. The class is off to a fast start averaging 10 students per class so far in its first few weeks.

Kerrin is holding outreach classes at the public libraries in Cheyenne, WY (Laramie County Library) and Greeley, CO (LINC Library Innovation Center) to determine interest for Dharma within these communities and whether we will continue with regular branch classes there in 2026. This looks promising as 13 people attended the first class in Cheyenne and 11 were registered for the September class in Greeley. We’ll also be exploring a possible branch class in Laramie in 2026.

Kerrin has held a few Public Talks in the Fort Collins area - at the local Barnes & Noble store and at Wolverine Farm Publick House - and plans on continuing to hold these events to increase awareness and visibility for Heruka KMC and to introduce residents in the local community to the wisdom and compassion of Buddha’s teachings.

We have added two additional GP classes at our center including a Thursday afternoon 12:15-12:45pm lunchtime meditation class taught by FP student Rosemary Vermouth and a Sunday morning 11:30-12:45pm GP class taught by Kerrin.

We continue with our Wednesday evening class, Friday after-work class (taught by EPC and TTP student Tim Salemno), Sunday FREE Prayers for World Peace (taught by FP student Sarah Crutchfield)

Our Foundation Program class held on Sundays 9-11am is in the middle of studying Venerable Geshe-la’s book Universal Compassion.

Our Teacher Training Program class is held Sundays 4-6pm and Thursdays 6-8pm and is studying Venerable Geshe-la’s book Great Treasury of Merit.

Heruka Kadampa Meditation Center holds monthly workshops on Saturdays on the practice of Highest Yoga Tantra for members so they can be prepared for the International NKT Summer Festival in 2026 which will be offering the Highest Yoga Tantra Empowerments at Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Center in Ulverston, UK. We are hoping to bring a large contingent from Heruka KMC to our mother center in England next summer.

Visiting Teachers:

Gen Kelsang Lingpur, the Resident Teacher at KMC Arizona in Tucson, AZ taught a workshop on drawing the face of Buddha on Nov 15.

We're excited to welcome Denver's new Resident Teacher, Gen Gomlam. We're working on inviting her to Fort Collins for a large gathering. Stay tuned!

Empowerments:

On Dec 6, Kerrin granted the Blessing Empowerment of Medicine Buddha. Empowerments bestow upon us special blessings that heal our mental continuum and awaken our Buddha nature. We plan to hold at least one Empowerment in 2026.

As you can see there is much happening at our center. In order to keep flourishing the Dharma in our community, we need your support. Heruka Kadampa Meditation Center is a non-profit organization that is dependent on memberships and donations.

Our year-end fund-raising goal is $10,000. This money will be used to make improvements at the center, to pay rental fees for our branch classes and to help cover publicity costs. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization so whatever amount you donate is tax deductible and much appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping to cherish your local Dharma center and for bringing benefit to the lives of so many living beings.
